Islay and Jura Sick Childrens Fund
We are committed to benefiting the communities we visit on any of our events and for this reason have selected The Islay and Jura Sick Childrens Fund as our nominated charity for 2009. The Fund provides support for families on the islands should they have the misfortune of having a child in hospital on the mainland. The Fund assists families by providing financial assistance with the cost of travel to the mainland and accommodation. A portion of all entries will be going to the Fund. Should anyone be interested in supporting this worthwhile cause please let us know

Vango
We are delighted to announce the valued support of Vango to Scottish Ultra. Vango, the Scottish tent manufacturer who origninated in Glasgow over forty years ago will be supplying high quality tents for participants to sleep in at the end of each stage as well as larger administration and medical tents for use throughout the event. In addition they will be supporting a number of athletes during the week and providing some great prizes for the after race prize-giving and party.

Please Give Blood
Cam Carter from Brisbane, Australia has embarked on a pretty unique and extremely worthwhile charity effort on the back of his participation on Scottish Ultra. Rather than pester people for cash sponsorship all he is asking everyone who wishes to support him to do is GIVE BLOOD. The bulk of these donations will of course be in Australia but we are attempting to support his efforts by giving blood in the UK. Full details of his exploits can be viewed on his website (www.racer.com.au). The Scottish Ultra team will be giving blood over the coming week and Cam would be chuffed to bits if anyone else would consider showing their support by doing likewise.

Route changes on the British Ultra 2008 course
Building on our widely acclaimed route choice for British Ultra 2008 we have made two significant changes to the route for Scottish Ultra 2009. One will be an additional day spent on the Island of Islay with one less day spent on Jura. This additional day will feature a lengthy sandy beach and dune section followed by a high level coastal pass and will add even more variety to an already diverse route.
