The Route

 

Scottish Ultra 2012 is a two day ultramarathon featuring some of the most adventurous and challenging terrain the UK has to offer. The course will be located in the beautiful Scottish Borders and feature a first stage of approximately 40 miles and a second stage of approximately 35 miles. Underfoot conditions will feature hillside tracks, forest trails, lochside paths and moorland. It’s a tough undertaking but will be set against some of the finest scenery in the country.
Final route will be released on 1st December.

2012 Itinerary

In order for athletes and race support/volunteers to make some of their arrangements the following is the proposed itinerary. It might be subject to tweaking as the race gets closer, but the principle dates for the benefit of booking transport etc won't be changing.

Saturday 12th May
0730 – Registration and Safety Briefing
0800 – Stage 1 starts
1800 - Stage 1 concludes
(Overnight in race village)
Sunday 13th May
0800 – Stage 2 starts
1800 - Stage 2 concludes
1930hrs Medals and Prize Giving

 

Compulsory Equipment

 

In the interests of safety you are required to carry the followingElectrolyte replacements
Rucksack
Full waterproof body cover (trousers and top)
Microfleece (or similar warm upper body layer)
Survival/Space Blanket
Basic first aid kit
Head torch
Compass
Mirror
Whistle
Watch

You must carry all compulsory items on all stages of the event. Failure to do so may result in time penalties in accordance with the event rules and regulations.
You will not be required to carry the following and these can be left in the camp village which will be supervised throughout the event:
Sleeping System
Evening Meal
Cooking System

Toilets/Water

 

Expedition style toilets will be provided.
Water will be available from the organisers each morning and evening and at designated checkpoints along the route.
